Eugene Durkee (accompanied by Claudia Altemus) infuses traditional Irish music with a deep musical knowledge to create a unique style filled with ballads, beautiful harmonies, bottleneck slides and fancy finger picking!
Prior to joining the Irish music scene, Eugene performed as a singles act, in rhythm and blues bands, and as guitarist, lead singer and writer for an original rock and roll band. He has recorded original music with former members of the 70's band "Renaissance," and with noted jazz session players.
He was a member of Reaganta - a well known Irish band that played in The Back Room many times, and has recorded music with a famous jazz drummer and with the keyboardist for the Strawbs and Renaissance. He has also toured the American South and Midwest with the brilliant uilleann (Irish) piper, Paddy Keenan.
Claudia Altemus has been playing the Irish whistle and singing ballads for twelve years. She has studied the whistle in the United States and Ireland. Claudia conducts whistle and storytelling workshops throughout New England and has twenty years of storytelling and teaching experience.
